Get it right when it counts

In a fiercely competitive news environment, great stories alone don't convert into coverage. They need great messengers to give them life. You've done all the work to build your business and get in front of the right reporter; now that investment needs to pay off.

The ability to deliver a great interview, and keep the conversation on track, can be the difference between getting the headline you want and getting lost in the noise. Likewise, the ability to share interesting, human stories and anecdotes turns run-of-the-mill podcast appearances into must-listens for your audience.

Be Press Ready.

Press Ready is a media training program for startup founders and execs. The program includes prep work with your team to understand your environment and business needs, a live, in-person media training session (covering the fundamentals of working with press, mock interviews, and a debrief), and ongoing support.

Built on 20+ years of experience working with executives at LinkedIn, Salesforce, and Cloudflare, ranging from first-time spokespeople to coaching seasoned execs, Press Ready will increase your confidence and ability when it comes to press interviews and podcast appearances.

How it works

The Program

01

Discovery call

~30 minutes

We talk through what's coming up: the raise, the launch, the podcast, or the campaign. What's the objective? Who's going to be in front of the camera or the microphone? What messaging exists today?

02

Messaging review and prep

Async, before the session

I review your existing messaging and any relevant coverage to date. I research the journalists or podcast hosts who matter for what you're working on, and build the question bank we'll use in the session.

03

The session

Half-day · in person

Three to four hours (depending on exec availability and experience) covering how the press actually work: angles, deadlines, off the record, soundbites. If relevant, we'll cover how podcast appearances differ from press interviews in pacing, length, and what counts as a win. Mock interviews recorded for playback, with real-time correction.

04

Written debrief

Within 48 hours

A written summary of what went well, what to keep working on, and the specific phrases or moves that landed. Delivered while the session is still fresh.

05

Ongoing support and resource library

Open-ended

I'm available by email or call for whatever comes up next: a last-minute opportunity, tips on turning new messaging into talking points, and so on. You also keep access to a library of templates and guides: media briefing docs, FAQ frameworks, and the rest.

The investment

The program costs $5,500 and includes everything above: discovery through to the resource library you'll keep using long after the session.

About Richard

Twenty years in the room.

Richard George

20+ years across agencies and in-house comms, at LinkedIn, Salesforce, and Cloudflare. I've media trained first-time spokespeople and seasoned executives. I've helped technical founders break out of niche press into mainstream business coverage. I've walked execs through interviews that mattered too much to wing.

Outside the training: messaging, narrative work, M&A, and crisis comms. That's what makes the training useful. I know what journalists are actually asking for, because I've spent twenty years on both sides of the conversation.
